Rev. Bruce B. Gibson was born and raised by the late Rev. Louis C. and Mrs. Mary J. Gibson, of Painesville, Ohio. He was educated in the Painesville Public School System and upon graduation from Harvey High School he enlisted into the U.S. Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Staff Sergeant and Financial Auditor. Rev. Gibson retired from Morton Salt as a explosive specialist for 30+ years.
He is a graduate of Lake Erie College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He attended Ashland Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity. He is the past NAACP President for the Lake County Chapter. He has served as the Treasurer of the Ohio-Central Indiana Annual Conference; served as a committee member for The Commission on Ministry for the Ohio Central Indiana Annual Conference; and has been a delegate to The General Conference for eight Quadrennials.
Rev. Gibson accepted the call at age 25 and has been a Pastor for 35 years. His past charges are Sims Chapel, Farrell, PA; Christian Temple, Akron, OH; Calvary C.M.E., Painesville, OH; Bethel C.M.E., Canton, OH; and Porter’s Memorial in Sandusky, OH; Parkwood C.M.E. Church and Lane Metropolitan C.M.E. Church both in Cleveland, Oh; and is currently the proud Presiding Elder of The Cleveland-Pittsburgh District.
He is still a resident of Painesville, Ohio where he resides with his lovely wife of 34 years Rev. Hope Gibson. Two sons Ian Sean a student at Phillips School of Theology and Louis Bernard a student at Lake Erie College majoring in Physical Therapy.
